A Nurse Call system is a method of communication between patient or resident and caregiver, which is used to reduce the response time during a critical event. It is an absolute necessity to any institute that is providing care to the elderly. Here is how our Nurse Call Systems work:


The Nurse or Matron is able to respond immediately to the exact location that the patient or resident is situated.
The notification is wirelessly transmitted to the Nurse or Matron via a Display Panel at the Nurses’ station or a wristwatch which gives off an alert sound and a vibration in case the Nurse is away from the station during a medical emergency. On the way to the patient or resident, the Nurse may also quickly recognize which room to go into via LED lights flashing above the door.

Reliable communication
Wireless nurse call systems have been proven to be more reliable than wired nurse call systems, over time the copper cables in a wired system start to break down and start triggering false alerts and malfunctions. Some common issues with a wired system:

Lightning Strikes:
whereby entire system runs the risk of being damaged in the event of a lightning strike which is, in most of the cases, where BellMe comes to the rescue.

Rodents:
We have also been told about cases where rats chew and damage wires.

Excessive wiring causing loss of communication
Another incident experienced with a wired system is that when a check was done on the system they found that one of the wires were cut off and there is no way of knowing how long it has been that way – if something would have happened to that resident it would have been really problematic. It is assumed that the fire company must have confused the wire from the wired nurse call system with one of their systems wires and it was cut by mistake without realizing.

They would’ve died definitely, because when they fall sometimes, for instance, we have some blind people around here whom they are far away from the nurse’s station so if we didn’t have a bell we wouldn’t get to them in time. So obviously we would find there is a major problem there.

It has saved a lot of lives. For every nursing home they should have this. It’s definitely a life saver. They rely on this bell so much that they don’t want to part with it. Really awesome, BellMe is a really cool product, I’m actually a C6 quadriplegic and I use it to communicate with my helper, I actually have a 24-hour helper here. Initially I use to just rely on my cell phone to contact her but you know cellphone is not a 100% solution where sometimes we have issues with the network or the phone is off and I can’t always get her on time so I started using the BellMe system and I’m very very impressed with it.
Firstly it’s very easy to use because I have limited finger mobility so it is quite easy to press the button, button is quite big. Secondly it’s quite convenient, I can always have it around my neck.

It is very light weighed, I don’t even feel it there. I just have it around my neck the whole day and whenever I need my helper I can just call her. The other is that I was concerned about was the distance because she is based quite a far distance away and it is on a level below us so I was concerned about the frequency , whether it will reach but it seems to be transmitting very well and it works 100% even though it’s quite far away.
Lastly the price, I was quite impressed with the price as well, I always thought that these wireless systems were quite expensive and I found it to be quite affordable. I got 4 buttons, a calling light and a UPS. Definitely well worth it, you know it’s something essential that I need in my home now especially being a quadriplegic, so it’s something I can’t live without.

Display Options:
Distinguish between different areas at a glance.
The B-900 Display Panel shows you up to 10 characters per line, e.g.: “WARD-A RM1”. It has all letters and numbers from A-Z and 0-9. It also can show two calls at the same time. You can also show 4 calls at the same time but this reduces the number of characters you can use.

Rolling Display:
View a list of calls directly from the Display.
If more than two residents press the call button at the same time, it rotates between them allowing you to see who has not received attention. The rolling display can handle up to 20 calls coming through at the same time and will keep rotating between calls.

Each display panel has a capacity of 512 buttons. This means a total of 512 Buttons can be programmed to the display panel. The Buttons can be all Call Buttons or a combination of Call and Cancel Buttons depending on how you would like your Nurse Call System to be set up.

Use the already onboard sound which is relatively loud, or connect a HI-FI unit to make it sound even louder with the auxiliary out. You can also connect a Siren for an even louder alert.

Exclusive to the B-900 the display will continue to output the alert sound until the call is cancelled.
Single Ring or Interval Ringing is also available until the cancel button is pressed.

You can assign a different ringtone to different wards or areas (up to 7 different ringtones). In addition, each ringtone can be assigned a different volume level.

Need a Nurse Call System on a budget?
Your Display can be set to auto cancel so you don’t have to install Cancel Buttons. If this feature is on, the software will not be able to report how quickly a resident or patient was attended to.

Provide accountability to your patient or resident’s family.
The BellMe Software can be customized so that the nurse on duty cannot cancel a call from the software screen. The nurse will have to cancel from the call point and then attend to the call. In addition, The BellMe Software captures this information and provides you with recorded proof of the time taken between the patient or resident calling and being attended to. The Software also requires administrative logins which will stay with the Matron or Manager so that the nurse cannot change the settings on the software.

The PCB-USB Receiver is an optional extra if purchasing the B-99E. Mainly used to capture the response time of the nurse using the BellMe Reporting Software.

Do you need to receive a notifications on the move?
When a call button is pressed it appears on the wristwatch,
the Nurse can cancel the request on the wristwatch, attend to the resident and then cancel at the call point.
If you are using reporting software then a cancellation on the watch does not trigger a response time. The Nurse must attend to the resident and press the cancel button at the call point. Nurses can also use the system to contact a doctor wearing a wrist watch receiver in emergencies saving time and lives.

You have two options: Remove the watch straps and wear the wristwatch on a lanyard or wear it on your wrist.

Note: Pressing the cancel button on the wristwatch will not cancel the call on the display panel. It will only clear the notification on the wristwatch display.

Capacity:
This LED Light Receiver can store up to 99 call buttons & requires 1 cancel button. It can be configured by the following two methods:

48 Call Buttons and 48 Cancel Buttons

Alert Tones:
Audio:
The LED has a switch inside the back cover which allows you to change between a beeping noise or silent.
Visual:
This LED light also flashes bright red upon pressing the call button.

Cancel with one or multiple:
The LED light cannot work without a Cancel Button.
A cancel button is used to stop the light from flashing and making a noise. You can share one cancel button for multiple call buttons or have a cancel button for each call. The configuration would be dependent on what you like displayed on your display panel, so it is compatible with the display information required. Please speak to a consultant to find the best solution for your establishment.

Power:
Even though it is part of our wireless range, all receivers require constant power except the wristwatch receiver. The signal transmits wirelessly from the Call Button to the LED light. The LED light is supplied with the required 12V power supply which is 1m long.

Easy to Press:
Your patient or resident may be weak or not have enough energy to push a firm button so our Buttons come with a large surface area that can be triggered on a soft rubber with a slight press. The rubber surface on the button is also indented to prevent an accidental press.

Long Lasting Battery Usage:
Requires an A23 battery which lasts up to 1-2 years in a Nursing environment. The Call Button is supplied with a special key which allows you to remove the backing and unscrew the casing in order to change the battery.

Pre-programmed with a Unique Code:
Each call button has a unique code which can be saved to display anything you would like. This is especially useful if you are using the B-900 Display Panel which allows you to paste the unique code for quick programming via the BellMe Software.

With this cancel button the resident is allowed freedom to walk around the retirement village or ward and press the button if they need assistance. The nurse will go to the patient or resident’s room first and if they are not there she can cancel the call from the room with the cancel button and then search the other areas of the establishment for the patient or resident.

Monitor Response Time:
If you would like to have the response time of the Nurses captured via the BellMe Software. The nurse would have to actively cancel the call button either on the screen or a cancel button at the bedside or call point for the call to be removed from the display.

Mountable:
The Cancel button is mountable exactly like the Call Button. It comes with the mounting bracket and can be mounted with strong 2-way tape or drilled.

Cancel One Call or Cancel All:
You can choose how you set up the cancel button to cancel calls for an entire section/ward or have one cancel button for each call button.

Sharing a Cancel Button:
This button is usually placed at the door to cancel calls coming from that section / ward. If you are sharing a cancel button with multiple call buttons then your display screen will have to display the same information.

Individual Cancel Buttons:
The button can be wall mounted near the Bedside Call Buttons or in the Toilets or Shower.

The call and cancel are both treated as one button so if your display has a capacity of 512 then you can have 512 residents with this button by their bedsides. The integrated cancel button will also monitor the response time of the nurse.

The smaller cancel button will light up when the large call button is pressed as confirmation that the call has gone through. This gives the patient or resident peace of mind that they will be attended to and prevents them from pressing the button multiple times in order to ‘make sure’ that their call went through.
